I have a renault scenic that makes a loud groaning sound?

It makes the noise after i have started the engine and put my foot on the excelarator and turn the wheel and move the car on any ideas what this can be?

    I had this problem and it turned out to be my granny fast asleep and snoring on the back seat.

    it could be either
    lower fluid level in power steering system.
    the power steering pump failing
    worn wheel bearing/cv joint (but they usually make a ticking noise).

    check your power steering fluid level and look for any obvious signs of a leak i;e anything on the ground where you normally park.

    failing that get it to a garage and get a mechanic to listen to it.
