On the door handle, there should be a little flap bit with a picture of a key on it, behind that there is an emergency access manual unlocking point for the key, check all the door handles, as there should be a point there somewhere, as the manufacturer has to put it in there for such cases as yours.

Failing that, you will need to either call the breakdown services, who will get into it for you with no damage to the car, or smash a window, which will cost you more than a new battery.

    Take key.
Put it in key hole in door.
Turn key until the door is unlocked.
    Open door.
    Pull the bonnet handle.
    Open bonnet.
    Attach battery charger to battery.
Plug charger in & switch on.

I’m sure that following those steps you will be able to unlock your car door, open your bonnet & charge your battery.

if that s the type with a key card, there is a key in the card which you put into the lock on the passengers door underneath the flap

i am sure you found it by now …..but my 03 scenic has a door lock for key entry on passengers door…..???

  9. Neil says:

On your key-card there is a section that pulls out to reveal the emergency key.

The emergency lock is on the left-hand front door (Renault’s home market is left-hand-drive). On the rear edge of the door handle there is a cover that is removed by putting the tip of the emergency key into the slot on the underside, then sliding the cover towards the rear of the car. Be careful you don’t lose the cover.

Then put the emergency key into the keyhole and turn. This will unlock the door.

  10. Michael S says:

Use the key on the drivers door. The keyhole is ‘hidden’ in the handle. Prise the cap off with key tip.

remove the small panel at the end of passenger door handle with a screw driver there is a small slot on the underside then underneath there is a key hole. On the end of the key fob is a manual key remove this and use to unlock passenger door only then you can release bonnet and recharge or replace battery.
